21.01.2012: 4th Annual Day Celebration at QVS

“In Search of the Golden Sparrow”

Queen’s Valley School, Dwarka involved its parents and the community in the ‘search of the golden sparrow’ as part of its 4th Annual Function and Republic Day celebrations on 21st January 2012. The extravaganza – ‘In search of the golden sparrow’ was a blend of both traditional and contemporary dance and musical forms.

The Chief Guest was Sh. S. K. Sachdeva, Chairman of the school. The other guests of honour included Dr. S. N. Maheshwari, Dr. R.C. Chadda, Mrs. Kiran Gambhir and Mr. Anil Sachdeva. They were all accorded a traditional yet contemporary welcome through ‘Swagatam’.

The tricolor was unfurled by Shri. S. K. Sachdeva and the national anthem was sung with great enthusiasm by all those present. To mark a pious beginning the traditional lamp was lit by all the dignitaries present followed by the ‘Saraswati Vandana’.

The school orchestra ‘Symphony’ played ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’ to signify the oneness of our nation.

‘Giggle Bellies – A musical Adventure’ set the ball rolling for some great musical action where the tiny tots stole the hearts of the audience. Young senoritas, gummy bears and students of yesteryears infused the audience with great joy.

Soon it was the turn of the senior students to ignite the stage and embark on their voyage of retrieving the golden sparrow. They touched the hearts of every one present through their appeal of saving the girl child. It was indeed a special moment as each person present in the audience had one ‘girl child’ performing on stage (Queen’s Valley School is a girls school). The Queens also through this voyage upheld the cause of the household sparrow exhorting the audience to join them in ‘SAVE THE SPARROW CAMPAIGN’.

It was also a day for acknowledging the hard work and toil of the Queens throughout the year. The Queens were awarded trophies and certificates for the scholastic and co-scholastic achievements at the school, state and national levels. The school management also awarded scholarships to its National level players.

The celebrations culminated with the tri coloured balloon flying high in the sky signifying that the sky is the limit for our patriotism. The resonance of ‘The search of the golden sparrow’ would linger in the minds of the audience for a long time to come.
