Participation in' games and sports invariably ensures good health and fitness. Only if the human body is kept in an overall fit condition, the mind remains alert. Physical fitness results in increased concentration and hence proficiency in studies.

Kabaddi ranks as one of the most popular traditional disciplines in India.

Like all Indian games, it is simple, inexpensive and enjoyable. It develops strength, speed and stamina of the body. This game develops qualities such as obedience, discipline, sportsmanship and loyalty between team-members. It is a game that calls for physical fitness, alertness and rapid reflex action. It has a toning-up effect on one's health, reduces tension and produces leaders.

13.05.2013 – Inter-House Sports Quiz

“The key is not the “will to win” – everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that’s important.”
– Bobby Knight

It is a well- established fact that education and competition are intimately related. On one hand, it is natural for children to compete in order to learn and, therefore, understandable that competition is put to educational use. On the other hand, competition may be found so important in adult life, that a society especially educates their young to compete.

At QVS, we endeavour to develop the spirit of healthy competition in our students through different activities in a variety of fields to achieve the desired learning outcomes. With this aim, we conducted a Sports Quiz for classes VI-XII on 13th May 2013 to encourage students to increase their awareness of the world around them. It was organized to encourage independent study and excellence in the field of sports. However, for some it served as an exercise in initiation into the sporting realm.

The Sports Quiz was so designed that it mirrored the whole process of getting involved in playing a sport. The emphasis was on the values which should be learnt by the students as they participate in the competition. The students learnt that winning and losing are both temporary, and that they can't give up or quit. As the quiz progressed, it was observed that the students became more engrossed and knitted together more emphatically as teams.

Our purpose to empower the students with accountability, dedication, and leadership materialized wonderfully during the event. At QVS, we understand that determination and goal-setting skills which are required in any competition can be transferred to the class –room quite effectively. Moreover, we believe that such spirited involvement helps build self- esteem with considerable effect.

The preliminary round for the same took place for all classes on the 9th of May 2013 in which participation was mandatory. After the selection process, the final event was held house- wise that is between Peace house and Truth house and, between Courage house and Integrity house. The event was organized at two levels: for classes VI- VIII and for classes IX- XII.

10.05.2013 – Special Assembly: Mother’s Day

“The noblest calling in the world is that of mother. True motherhood is the most beautiful of all arts, the greatest of all professions. She who can paint a masterpiece or who can write a book that will influence millions deserves the plaudits and admiration of mankind; but she who rears successfully a family of healthy, beautiful sons and daughters whose immortal souls will be exerting and influence throughout the ages long after painting shall have faded, and books and statues shall have been destroyed, deserves the highest honor that man can give.”

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in the society

The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in America. She then began a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States. In this tradition, each person offers a gift, card, or remembrance toward their mothers, grandmothers, and/ or maternal figure on Mother's day.

Queen’s Valley School celebrated Mother’s Day on 10th May, 2013 with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was organized to celebrate this day, by the students of Class III- E. Little queens dressed in colourful attire, enacted various scenes which emphasized a mother’s role and her importance in our lives. The performances were appreciated by the audience and enjoyed equally by the students performing on stage. The celebration proved to be a huge success as it brought smiles on the faces of all present – students and teachers alike! The queens were able to bring out the child in each one present through their well conducted assembly.

01.05.2013 – Inter-Class Debugging- Spot the error (XI-XII)

“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.”

Encouraging our queens to embark on the road to being tech savvy, QVS organized an Inter Class Debugging-Spot the Error Competition for classes XI to XII on the 1st of May 2013. Such events are held taking into account the emphasis laid on technology, which is present in all spheres of life.

Computer Softwares have their application or utility everywhere. We find their applications in almost every sphere of life–particularly in fields where computations are required to be done at a very fast speed and where data is so complicated that the human brain finds it difficult to cope up with it. Advent of computer software in last few decays has brought a revolution in the in the fields of Corporate sector, Banks, Medical Science, Aeronautics, Robotics etc.

In computers, debugging is the process of locating and fixing or bypassing bugs (errors) in computer program code. To debug a program is to start with a problem, isolate the source of the problem, and then fix it. It is a necessary process in almost any new software, whether a commercial product or an enterprise or personal application program. Because most computer programs contain thousands of lines of code, almost any new product is likely to contain a few bugs.

In order to inculcate the finest software techniques in our queens, an interclass debugging competion was held for class XI and XII which included the debugging of C++ programs and SQL Queries. Students from commerce stream debugged SQL Queries and queens from science stream debugged C++ programs. They participated with great enthusiasm and the best debuggers are as follow:

C++ (XI)
