25.01.2014 : Annual Day Celebration

India is the fountain of the human race,
the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history,
the grandmother of legends, and the great grandmother of traditions and religion.
Our most important materials in the history of man
are treasured up and get respected in India only!

The 25th day of January 2014 brought with it a resplendent array of celebrations as the school hosted Republic Day and Annual Prize Distribution in the school grounds. Though the day commenced with the sun hiding behind the hazy cover of mist and fog but the glare of zest and excitement was visible right through the corridors of QVS. The warmth of the fervour among the queens was ample to fight the bitter cold. As the clock struck 11 in the morning, the galaxy of honourable guests was escorted to the seating area, the jostling crowd of spectators settled on their chairs and the hustle and bustle in the performers’ green rooms turned into tranquility. The occasion was graced by the presence of honourable Chairman, Mr. S.K. Sachdeva; Dr. R.C. Chadha (Manager); Mrs. Kiran Gambhir (Academic Adviser); Mr. Anil Sachdeva (Vice Chairman); Mr. Sanjay Sachdeva (Affiliate of the Managing Committee) and Dr. Ravija Prakash (Principal- SPS Rohini). They were formally and affectionately welcomed with a small token of regard.

The programme commenced on a pious note of paying veneration to the almighty and seeking his blessings in every endeavour of life. Clad in colourful attire the queens implored for the benediction through a dance on the prayer song- ‘prabhutere rang mein, hum rang gaye aise’. Thereafter the dignitaries were requested to light the mangaldeep which marked a radiant beginning to the momentous day. It was followed by flag hoisting by Chairman Sir and a motivating speech by him. He encouraged the children to take a vow to protect this nation from the manacles of racism and all acts of discrimination.

The revelries were proliferated furthermore as the maiden issue of QUINTESSENCE-the school magazine was released by respected Chairman Sir. The other guests were also given a facsimile each. Then arrived the central event of the day i.e. the Prize Distribution wherein the queens from the Primary Classes (Pre Nursery- V) were acknowledged for their efforts in the bygone session. They were honoured for their determination, toil and success shown throughout the spell. The esteemed guests did us the honours and bestowed certificates and trophies to the winners. The Best Wall Magazine trophy was bagged by Courage House whereas Best House trophy was won by Peace House.

It was time to introduce the story teller of the day – the Banyan Tree whose stories relate the stupendous saga of India and its ethos. He stands sturdy on the shores of India and witnesses each and every manoeuvre in the country. The flamboyant performances by the young princesses of primary classes enraptured the audience and cast their inspiring silhouette on them. The multifarious narrative musical performances were based on Panchatantra stories, various seasons and invasions in India. The Grand Finale brought all performers together on the stage to voice out the message of strengthened democracy by exercising the right to vote. The audience was enthralled by the astounding presentation and acknowledged it with loud heart felt applause. The programme culminated with the release of tri-coloured balloons by the guests which soared high individually but still united, giving the message of unity in diversity.

19.01.2014: Green School Award

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children”

The relentless endeavour of the school in the area of environment management has once again made its mark as the slogan of ‘Save Environment’ was voiced out loud enough to echo along the global corridors. Queen’s Valley School has been awarded India Green School Award 2013 in School Education Category by the Green Summit Apex Jury. It was established on the basis of research and feedback and the opinion of KRDWG Expert Panel in continuation of their endeavour to identify organizations and individuals who have demonstrated leadership in initiating and implementing green best practices. The award was bestowed by Dr. Veronique Briquet-Laugier, Head, Science Department, French Embassy, India. The award not only acknowledged the commendable efforts of the school but also instilled a strong and much rooted motivation towards sustainable efforts. We hope that this award serves as a stepping stone and the biggest award of a CLEAN AND GREEN EARTH is inherited by the upcoming generations of the human civilization.
