“Mummy & Papa, I love to read!
as reading is fabulous,
reading is fun, I read when it rains
and I read in the sun.....!”

We all want to hear our queens saying this. So let’s join hands and help our Queens to love and read books!

For the same QVS is celebrating this week as Book Week and number of related activities will be taken up. The week will end with a Book Fair by UK’s world famous publishing house - SCHOLASTIC

26.11.10 : One Nation Reading Together-2010

“To read a book for the first time is to make an acquaintance with a new friend: to read it for a second time is to meet an old one.”

On 26th of November 2010 the queens of the Queen’s Valley School were all buzzing like the busy bees. They all excitedly waited for the clock to strike 12 noon, when they all were to sit together and be a part of the drive conducted by one of the most prestigious publication house ‘SCHOLASTIC’.

A reading week was conducted at QVS, where all the students got an opportunity to get familiar with all sorts of books and they made full use of the library. Some of the main activities conducted during this week were:
  • THE READER OF THE DAY - One lucky winner was picked up as ‘The reader of the day’ for 3 consecutive days.
  • GRADUATION HAT - Each child made a ‘Graduation Hat’ with a caption ‘My hat of Knowledge’ on it.

As the grand finale of this reading week, the students of classes I and II read in their classes and the students of classes III to IX sat in the school lawns in a formation which read ‘ONE NATION READING TOGETHER’ with their ‘Hats of Knowledge’ on. It was such a beautiful sight. On the onset they all pledged to make reading a part of their lives by reading everyday. All the teachers and students read for an hour in total peace and harmony. Along with this a drawing and slogan writing competition on ‘How I see my School’ was also conducted.

With this the reading week came to an end with a resounding note of hope that our queens will become ardent readers and this habit will open a new door for them on every single day of their lives.

01.11.10: Anti Cracker Campaign

‘Celebrate Diwali the Queen’s Way’

QVS fervently tries to inculcate values in its queens by encouraging them to contribute to various social initiatives from time to time.

On 1st November queens of classes VI- IX marched out of the school premises to create awareness among the people about the need of celebrating Diwali the eco-friendly way. The students participated in a rally holding banners and posters and distributed pamphlets urging the residents of nearby societies to ‘Say No To Crackers.’

It is rightly said that in order to bring about a change you have to change yourself first and the queens are always willing to be the harbingers of the change.
