30.10.10: Craft Workshop

‘We tore paper.....for better’

India is a nation well known for its vivid cultures and traditions. A plethora of significant objects are linked to them which makes it more diverse and richer. One such symbolic object is ‘lantern’ which signifies the dissemination of knowledge and igniting minds. It holds an equally vital position in China which is the birth place of paper-lanterns.

Our queens’ creative skills once again gained a platform when they zestfully participated in a workshop for making Chinese lantern under the guidance of NIE resource person Ms. Silky Chauhan on 30.10.10. it paved way to not only creating dazzling and gleaming paper lanterns but also to mark the festivities of upcoming Diwali Festival. The shaping up of torn bits of paper and zigzag cutting into a unique figure was unbelievable!

30.10.10: Girls Kabaddi Championship (under 17)

Queens excel at the Inter Zonals

Vanshika and Bhawana, the sports wonders from QVS, went to play Kabaddi Inter Zonal Championship under-17 held at Dhaka School. Both the girls played with great sports spirit and enthusiasm jointly with SKV Raj Nagar, Palam, under the Zone-21.

The team cleared all the rounds and in the final match they played with Zone -22 and won with an enormous difference of points and won cash prize of Rs.1000/- and a certificate of excellence.

29.10.10: An Enriching Experience – Workshop on Fundamental Phonics Instruction

The infants first acquire the basic speaking skills that include uttering certain sounds that may or may not have a meaning. Focusing on this aspect of Language Scholastic India organised a workshop on Fundamental Phonics Instruction on 29.10.10 at India Habitat Centre, to enrich the teachers from schools across Delhi.

The resource Person Ms. Anushia Senthe stressed on teaching phonics to the young children to connect the sounds of spoken English with letters or a group of letters. She also highlighted the need of designing phonics based teaching strategies to develop reading fluency in early learners.

The workshop was highly informative, interactive and left the teachers richer in terms of their phonics knowledge.

29.10.10: Creating Wonders with Paper Mache

In the constant and consistent chain of extra curricular learning at QVS, one more link was added when a productive Paper-Mache workshop was conducted for classes V to IX in the school premises by NIE resource person Mr. Sushil Kumar on 29.10.10.

The demonstration and practical session gave a first hand experience to the to the students for evolving vivid useful shapes out of the paper pulp like scent-stick stand, Ganesh Idols, beautiful trays, lovely plates, stars, birds and many more. The students were indeed delighted and thoroughly enjoyed the session

29.10.10 : Queens celebrate ‘The Joy of Giving’

Li’l princess are fast turning into queens in true sense of the word and imbibing values like compassion, humility and sharing in themselves. In response to the ‘Joy of Giving’ initiative our queens contributed their hearts out and parted with their hearts out and parted with their prized possessions of toys and books to bring a smile on the faces of their not so privileged friends. A stock of more than 700 books and 1000 toys was accumulated by the joints efforts of queens from nursery to class IX.

On 29.10.10 representative from each class got a golden opportunity to visit Children of World (Delhi) Organisation taking care of the orphaned children to share their contribution with them. The visit brought a smile on the faces of those children who expressed their delight through songs, jokes and several other fun activities. The queens also joined them to sing and share jokes and spread the cheer around. They learnt that no joy is greater than the ‘Joy of Giving’
